First Aid at Work (FAAW)
Diverse Coaching are able to offer the full HSE approved First Aid at Work course in accordance with the health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This course will be adapted to the needs of the particular organisation if all attendees are from the same working background or to suit individuals on one of our ‘open’ courses.
Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be employed and used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions. By arrangement the course can be run on non-consecutive days, for example – one day a week over three weeks.
The First Aid at Work Syllabus Includes:
– First Aid Priorities
– Managing Incidents
– Basic Life Support
– Examination of a Casualty
– Control of Bleeding
– Burns and Scalds
– Common Illnesses
– Heart Attacks
– Eye Injuries
– Recording and Reporting
– First Aid Kits
Students are independently examined on the final afternoon of the course and upon successful completion certification is valid for three years
Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommend that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every twelve months although this is not mandatory. If interested in this please see the annual refresh page.
This course can be run for up to 12 participants and certification and a manual is provided for each student at no additional cost.
This course can either be run at your own premises with all necessary equipment being supplied or another suitable training venue can be sourced by Diverse Coaching at an additional cost.
At the end of the course candidates will receive a debrief of their performance and on request a personal development plan can be created to help further a candidates knowledge/confidence/ability.
