Level-1-Coach (1)

BCU/UKCC Level 1 Coach

This is the BCU’s first coaching award for people wishing to become a paddlesports coach and on successful completion students will be able to operate under supervision in any BCU recognised craft e.g. canoe, kayak, bell boat, race boats, sea kayaks etc.

This is a four day course which involves both theory and practical and can be completed on four consecutive days, two weekends or even four separate days.

The level one can be awarded as either a boat based award allowing the coach to train from the water or a bank based award for those unable to paddle for whatever reason but who still want to be able to coach paddlesports.

Boat based students should have the 2 star award and FSRT awards before attending this course and must register with the BCU.

Bank based students do are not required to hold a 2 star award but must however have attended a bank based FSRT as well as registering with the BCU.

Following the course Diverse Coaching will do all of the paperwork and a personalised action plan will be designed to continue development after the course has finished.

Level-2-Coach-Training

BCU/UKCC Level 2 Coach Training

This is a further 4 day training course for the second level  in coaching paddle sports. This course is designed to improve a coaches knowledge of coaching within paddlesports and is the appropriate qualification for people who wish to work independently.

This course once again includes both theory and practical and can be completed again on four consecutive days, two weekends or four separate days.

The level two training can also be awarded as either a boat based or bank based award or so is suitable for any level one wishing to progress their knowledge.

Boat based students should have a 3 star award before attending this course and must have registered with the BCU.

After this course the coach has 12 months to build a portfolio and gain additional experience before presenting themselves for assessment. Diverse Coaching has mentored many coaches to successfully passing their Level 2 assessment and is more than happy to support you on an individual basis. Level-2-Assessment

BCU/UKCC Level 2 Coach Assessment

This is a one day assessment for anyone who has completed the BCU/UKCC level 2 coach training and wishes to be able to operate independently of other coaches.
To attend assessment the coach’s must have completed a portfolio of evidence which Diverse Coaching can help with if required, hold a minimum of one 3 star and be at 3 star standard in another alternative discipline as well as have attended a continual professional development workshop or have achieved a second 3 star award.
After assessment Diverse Coaching will provided detailed feedback on the candidates performance and whether successful or not will provide a action plan to develop the coach.
All candidates that Diverse Coaching have been involved with throughout the mentored period (after attending Level 2 training) and who have built their portfolio with our help have been successful in passing this award first time!
