We are able to start and finish our trips from many places along the waterways in and around Somerset however regularly operate along the Bridgwater and Taunton canal due to the scenery, history, facilities and distance of routes.

Along the trips you will see a wide variety of wildlife which could include swans, ducks, kingfishers and maybe even otters!

If you are interested in different start or finish points, would like to canoe shorter or longer distances or maybe even try a different canal or river please contact us.

Our half day trips run twice a day and are roughly 4/5 miles in length

Morning – Departing 9am and returning at 12pm approx Afternoon – Departing at 1pm and returning at 4pm approx.

Maunsel Lock to Standards Lock + Return

Our most popular trip starts at the Canal Centre at Lower Maunsel Lock and travels north towards Bridgwater.

In our opinion this is one of the most picturesque sections of the canal and can be completed by almost everyone.

We Travel to Standards Lock before taking a well earned rest and heading back to the Canal Centre.

Bridgwater Docks to Wide Water + Return

This trip starts at the historic Bridgwater Docks which has been a working docks since 1841.

This trip then takes you along some of the most historic sections of the canal and soon after leaving the dock area you pass through the historic cuttings.

This trip continues to Wide Water by the Boat and Anchor Inn before returning via Canoe to the Docks

More Info

All of the canoeing trips are designed to not be too physically demanding; however you need to have the ability to paddle for the duration of the activity. As we allow for regular rests generally speaking if you can walk 100m you will be fine.

In canoes you are only likely to get spray from the paddles so do not need to bring any specific items with you. All that is required is outdoor clothing you don’t mind potentially getting wet and secure closed toe footwear. We will provide you with a buoyancy aid, paddle and canoe which is all you require. If however you would like to bring extra items with you then you can at your own risk.

There is no upper age limit as long as the individual has the ability to use the paddle, we have taken out many older people who have wanted to join us and encourage everyone to give it a go!

As our morning trip returns before lunch and the afternoon trip departs after lunch you are not required to bring any food however if you want to bring something light to eat or drink you are welcome.

Both of our half day trips are priced:
Adult (over 12) – £20
Child (under 12) – £10
Small Family (2 adults + 1 child) – £45
Family (2 adults + 2 child) – £50
Either visit the events page and book onto one of our pre planned trips or if you are a group of 4 or more why not get in touch with us to arrange a trip on a day of your choosing!
None, almost any one of any age or ability, with or without experience can take part in canoeing. If you do have experience and want to improve your personnel ability we can also improve your technique and maybe teach you some new ones!
General outdoor clothing and secure closed toe footwear are required due to the nature of the canal banks; flip flops are not permitted. If you wish to bring other items along you may, we can provide various watertight containers on request.
We only need some basic details about any participants including medical and additional needs which can be given to us using our booking form, that’s it!
Canoes are very stable crafts, as long as you move slowly and listen to the instructor you are only likely to get wet from the spray from paddles as you go along.

There is certainly no upper age limit, as long as the individual has the ability to use the paddle. We have taken out many older people who have wanted to join us and encourage everyone to give it a go!

The lower age limit is determined by the size of the individual as every participant must fit safely in a buoyancy aid. As we have junior sized buoyancy aids this is possible for most over 3 years of age, if unsure please contact us.
