Foundation Safety And Rescue Training (FSRT)

This course aims to provide students with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely in a sheltered water environment and to be able to deal with common emergencies. These skills will then form the basis of all safety and rescue training throughout the BCU Scheme.

The course has two main purposes:

1. To provide the paddler with the necessary skills which will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

2. To provide the paddler with the appropriate rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and/or others in difficulty.

This is a one day attendance award where all participants on completion of the day will be awarded the BCU FSRT award. For those looking to take their paddle sports further this is the necessary safety award to go on to complete the UKCC/BCU Level 1 coach.

This award can be run at one of our venues in Bridgwater or at any Sheltered water venue near you including canals, lakes and harbours.
